Editorial: Graph Theory should have its own 2-Digit MSC.
When the Four Colour Problem first came into prominence, graph theory was classified as a subfield of topology. Now graph theory is officially a subfield of combinatorics. There are those, on the other hand, who feel as though graph theory is a subfield of computer science. All this confusion is apparently due to the fact that the subject of graph theory is relatively new. It is clear to me that graph theory does not need to be a subfield of any discipline. The numbers above show that graph theory has the papers for it. I call for graph theory to have its own 2-digit MSC, say 07, which is available.
