You can even have electric motorcycles. So yeah, a motorcycle.
Scooter... Pull the plastic off and you'll see it is 100% on a scooter frame with scooter wheels.
I'm with you on this one. Scooters are bikes too! I love me a good Vespa
100%! Super Cubs are some of the coolest bikes out there too.
Best bang for the buck I ever spent was on a Honda 150cc scooter. It had just enough power to be fun but not enough to get you into too much trouble, and was just so much more nimble compared to even a small sized bike. Weaving through traffic was effortless.
This has to either be a troll or youāve never seen a scooter in your life.
They are actually correct. If you take that storage box off there is a step through where the engine typically is on a motorcycle. They just dressed up a scooter, which is perfectly fine I fricken love my Vespa!
https://imgur.io/gallery/Kze0kra
Holy shit, it really is.
I was thinking of a stand up scooter when he said scooter, fair enough
https://ibb.co/0Yfy6r0
That isn't electric..
That isnāt the point..
Most people think it's electric, wasn't about a point
I believe that the point of the person your replying to is that even if itās two wheels and electric with no mechanical pedals, it can still be considered a motorcycle, which by extension, makes the Navi in this post a definite motorcycle since it has an engine, and most of the qualities of a regular motorcycle. Also supported by the word choice of using āevenā
To put it simply, they are giving an example of something even less similar to a motorcycle in order to demonstrate that this would definitely be considered a motorcycle.
Yeah, storage compartment probably confuses a lot of people.
Clearly a truck.
I was thinking airboat but okay.
I'm going to go with sandwich. Is it too early for lunch?
Itās a āLimited Speed Vehicleā according to the Ministry of Transportation where I live š¤·āāļø
But it also does fit perfectly into the scooters typical feature setā¦..
Small displacement engineā .
CVTā
No clutchā
Hand brake where clutch lever should be ā
Motor attached to swing armā
But weāll still take you here haha š welcome to the club
The American versions donāt have left hand brakes, they have a tradition foot brake for the rear
So is it just nothing there?
Edit: you guys to the south of us have the same models as we do up here in Canada. The Navi has a little stubby lever for the hand brake :P
Yeah itās a parking brake though, not to be used while riding. The foot brake is the main rear brake.
Potato potato I guess lol.
Iāve never called the lever in my car a āparking brakeā Iāve always called it the emergency brake, or the hand brake.
It's a parking brake, it's not practical for use while riding due to how far you have to reach for it.
You could still say the same for cars ;P heh heh. I still use it to lock up the rear brakes and drift around in the snow x) lmao.
I got a co-worker with one and being that I overthink everything I consider it a motorcycle, mainly because you sit like you're riding a horse rather than like you're sitting in a chair. But yes, you're right. It shares more with scooters than bikes, but I also still accept it either way
Ontario right
Yeh
That's the spirit!
Def a motorcycle.
It's a HOAX!! Damn liberals and their lizard magic
I'm just trying to listen to some TRAVIS TRITT!
STRAIGHT UP!!
Scootcycle.
Nah it aināt. Itās a scooter frame with the engine on the swing arm. The rest is just plastic.
Which is a type of motorcycle.
Just got back from Guatemala and this is the by far the most popular motorcycle there, heck maybe even the most popular form of transportation!
They are incredibly cheap, good on gas, and durable. We saw Navis in every environment from intense dirt roads in the mountains to carrying 3 people in the city.
Likewise came back from El Salvador. Navi and Groms everywhere
Yāall are built smaller
3 people in that small thing? Wth we have these in Costa Rica but you can barely fit 2 people there lol
any honda monkeys?
Big guys on Groms look like Honda monkeys.
Motorised bicycle = Motorcycle. This thing can smoke the edwardian bikes I have seen on runs, and those are motorcycles.
Honda tradition
You've been listening to the gatekeepers on here too much. Enjoy your ride man
I mean, the main defining quality of a scooter is the step-through design.
Navi got rid of that. This is now a motorcycle.
My plan was to get one of these as my first bike just for quick trips to the store. Then I ended up with an MT-03 and no quick trips to stores.
That's odd, I'd think it would make trips to the stores much quicker.
How is it different than the DCT motorcycles?
No manual gear shifting for either. How the bike does it matters not.
Itās a little different since the motor is mounted on the rear swing arm, where motorcycle motors are kinda between the legs and have a chain/belt to the rear wheel.
Yeah but same with scooters typically, and I would technically call a scooter a motorcycle.
A different breed of motorcycle, but still a motorcycle
And the California DMV would agree with you. A scooter is a motorcycle.
Sounds like a scooter drivetrain to me.
functionally no different.
DCT you can shift manually, itās just with your hands instead of your foot
can, but dont have to.
The Suzuki Burgman 650 has a CVT with optional manual shifting alongside the the automatic mode, which is also done with your hands, so that's also possible with a CVT.
Burgman is 10 times the motorcycle a Navi will ever be. Iāll die on this hill.
The Burgman is a motorcycle dressed up as a scooter and nothing can convince me otherwise.
Well, scooters don't have to be weak, and the Burgman is a perfect example of that, so I think being really powerful doesn't make it less of a scooter, it just goes to show how scooters can also be big powerful machines and don't need to be lame 50cc toys, which is probably what most people associate scooters with.
Scooters can be pretty badass, and the Burgman 650 isn't even the most powerful one, I think that title would go to the Gilera GP 800, a scooter with a 839cc engine and a top speed of 215 km/h.
Cool, I didnāt know that. Now Iām off to google how that works
FortNine's video about the Burgman talks a bit about how it works
DCT is dual clutch, meaning there are two clutches active at the same time and you switch between one and the other for āautomaticā like shifting. You can still go into neutral or shift gears by yourself if you want.
CVT does not have a neutral nor the option to shift through the gears yourself, because usually they donāt have more than 1 gear or have āunlimitedā gears. CVTs are also lighter than DCTs and get to the ideal torque ratio easier.
dct can shift manually, but doesnt have to.
CVT does have an effective "nuetral", or idle would pull it forward.
But you canāt select to go into Neutral on a cvt and rev your engine. You can on a DCT
Edit: typed dev instead of rev
This is kind of right. I would say CVT has an idle "state" and you can get there by killing the throttle.
Idle on CVT will actually keep the scooter under load and rolling until you apply a little brake or hit an incline.
DCT are just uncomfortable scooters. I say this as somebody who dailies a scooter and has a bunch of bikes.
Honda cub is closer to being a fully fledged motorcycle than a DCT.
If you ride a >300cc CVT scooter and a DCT bike back to back the only difference is the former is a little more comfortable.
Interesting. I havenāt had the chance to ride a DCT yet, maybe Iāll go test drive the rebel 1100 DCT and see what you mean
And yet Honda has DCT on their 1800cc Goldwing.
Not true. I have owned a Vespa 300 and multiple motorcycles. A motorcycle with DCT is completely different than a scooter. You ride them differently as far as leaning and using your body.
Well of course, feet in front you have a different weight distro but that's where it ends. Out here its common to see higher CC scooters with a CVT. The only real difference is seating position and perhaps engine braking being a little softer on some brands CVT. Scooter guys will tend to counter lean because seating position.
Eg. If you watch a motorcycle rigting itself from a lean it will go 35Ā° to 0Ā°.
If you watch a scooter it will go 35Ā° to -10Ā° to 0Ā°.
If you made a DCT vehicle with a scooter seating position, people would ride it like a scooter.
Because it has a scooter frame and scooter wheels?
Itās just straight up a scooter made to look like a Grom.
Because it's not a DCT. It uses a centrifugal clutch.
scootercycle?
I like it
I had a Harley bro pull up beside me the other day and tell me I had a nice scooter. At first I was thinking what kind of disrespectful bullshit is this. But then I just blurted out "I fucking love my Navi and it does every single thing I need it to." And then listed off what I love about it and he just kinda took off when the light changed. It's a wonderful little bike and I'm so glad to own one.
Love scooters and bikes. Got both in my garage. This for me is a scooter because of the CVT and engine in the swingarm. I would ride and corner this thing like a scooter.
If I remember correctly l, navi is built on scooter frame but who cares. At least it looks like motorcycle.
Also really nice paint job. Is that factory option or aftermarket?
its a motorcycle, and they are fun as hell for the money they cost.
You sit on a motorcycle, you sit in a scooter.
CVT or not this is a motorcycle.
It's not a motorcycle or a scooter, surely it's a toy? I recon I could fit that in one of my panniers. š
Now excuse me whilst I climb back on my car-on-two-wheels (Gold Wing).
It looks like a toy, I like it
The official line for scooter or motorcycle is ācan you wear a dress?ā. If no, itās a motorcycle.
Two wheels, motor, feet separated by bike = motorcycle.
I'd look like a bear riding a tricycle on that bad boy. I looks pretty cool, I like the colors.
Honda has the Supercub, a motorcycle that can be mistaken for a scooter, and the Navi, a scooter that can be mistaken for a motorcycle. Chaos vibes.
they also have the hunter cub which is the cooler "trail"/postie version of the cub that looks wayyy cooler than the super
but for some fuggin reason it seems they never sold em in europe, gah
Also the Wave and Biz, which are like a modern and a bit more sporty reimagination of the original Super Cub. No idea if either of those are sold in Europe but they're cool, very practical, and super easy to ride.
The wave apparently was! Sold as the Innova here according to wikipedia
I wonder why manufacturers do that. Here in Canada, we got the new Trail, but not the Super Cub. I love both of them, but I can only get the Trail unless I want to import a Super Cub from the States.
Its really bizzare how the 125's seem to not all be available around the world
Over here we get the grom, monkey, super cub and the dax (which i believe isn't available in north america?)
The dax is pretty iconic here though, you see loads of them, at least in 50cc guise though many of them might be clones
Back when i went to highschool basically every guy with a motorcycle at school had a dax or dax clone with an extremely obnoxious megaphone level exhaust that made them audible from half a mile away
Yeah, the ST125 Dax is Europe only. Very odd, considering the older versions like the 70 were sold in USA/Canada as the CT70. Probably down to what they think would sell better in different places, so many people over here started off on Trails back in the day.
It's a motorcycle and a scooter is just a specific kind of motorcycle.
Stop this fucking idiocracy: it has two wheels, an engine and no pedals: It's a fucking motorcycle.
I hate these things like nothing else in the world, honda Mexico fills the shippings with these little shits and barely brings any medium to high end bikes to keep bringing stuff like this, the Mexican factories are also used to produce stuff like this while the cool stuff is produced in Thailand. Still, this one looks very nice op.
This is a scooter. It's essentially just an Elite 110 engine on a vaguely Grom-like frame.
Iāve gotten tons of ānice motorcycleā, ānice bikeā, āi like your motorcycleā etc when i ride the Navi. It lacks the step through design typical of scooters, so people see a motorcycle.
"I'm neither a motorcycle, nor a scooter", he moped.
Def a scooter.
They donāt like me on that subreddit cause it doesnāt have a āstep-thruā design š
Bro just keep scooting ā
Donāt let the haters hate :P
Just enjoy the fact that you can sip your Starbucks while you ride ;P lol
Youāre going to make all the BMW riders jealous šš
The Cub is a motorcycle. This is a scoot.
This is the truth
Aesthetics is a big part of the vehicle world.
So even if it's a scooter underneath, people see a motorcycle.
They mostly only like Chinese pieces of shit in that subreddit.
Unless you ride in reverse that rear tire is mounted backwards.
Interesting, thatās how it came from Honda. I checked other Navi photos and it looks like theyāre all like that.
When I rented a NAVI in Mexico I noticed that and assumed they mounted the tires backwards. Then I took a close look and the rotation arrow points in the correct direction, so the thread design just looks "wrong" but is mounted correctly.
honda fan here. 49cc no clutch dont need mc endorsement its a cool looking scooter
Itās a 109cc engine
109cc and depends where you live. Considered a full size bike where I live
Navi has a scooter frame :/
Looks fun.
Still a scooter.
Definitely a scooter
Thatās hot. Reminds me of Jackieās bike in Cyberpunk 2077
Those things have step through scooter underbone frame, as well as a scooter drive train. Sounds like a scooter to me.
Clearly a scooter
Yea thatās a scooter
It's a Scooter for sure, it has the same CVT as another Honda Scooter
Comment deleted by user
Itās not electric though, it has a carbureted gas engine lol
Heavy bike with tiny wheels incapable of maintaining sufficient gyroscopic force. Accident waiting to happen?
There are plenty of scooters with 10 to 12 inches rims, and they're fine. Besides, it has a 110cc engine, so it's not like it would be going fast enough for the small wheels to become an issue, but even the Vespa GTS 300 with its far more powerful engine is still fine having similarly small wheels.
Source on any of that?
Personal experience.
Ah, so literally "Trust me bro"
Heavy?
A Honda Navi?
Only in comparison to those teeny wheels.
A navi? š©
Too weird to live but much too rare to die
If it's not a toilet bowl, it's not a scooter. Engine size and transmission type have no bearing on this definition.
*unless it has functional pedals. Functional pedals means moped.
Get the new mnnthbx perf cam for it
In my country it would probably be a "motorized 2 wheel vehicle"
Motocooter.
Taller folks must look hilarious on these.
Itās a damn scooter.
Tho is barely a motorcycle I think it still qualifies because it doesnāt have the drop gap between the bars and seat.
Motard
Does the emoji mean you came?
It's a 'Mopercyled' š
That's a pretty fast scooter bro
It's a zippity Doo dah
Nothing new, Gilera DNA has been around for ages
There are scooters that'll go 60+ and still get over 100mpg...I don't care about much other than being on two wheels, however, saving money is always good too. Honda Nighthawk 750
It's a motorcycle with an automatic transmission.
Not a scooter and could bear quite a few of your bikes off the line ... not in distance tho lol.
I crashed one of these full speed into a brick building last summer š broke 4 ribs, my wrist, dented my shoulder and killed my pride. I don't think I could do that on a scootscoot
I mean look at those wheelbarrow wheels!
Youāll be thinking this one day as you stop at a red light. Scooter? Motorcycle? Scooter? Suddenly the kids in the car next to you will say āNice mopedā Donāt correct them.
Scooter, motorcycle, whatever. Looks like low cc fun to me.
I am a fan of this two-wheeler
I love these
Honda navi
Honda navi
So it's a scootorcycle?
"The Boulder is conflicted"
It is definitely a motorcycle. It can be a scooter as well, since thatās just a sub category of a motorcycle.
A scotercycle
Seems like a great way to increase the accessibility into the motorbike world. Some people would find this very appealing.
I really wanna ride one of these. And I like that wrap it's cool
"Hey! Listen!"
