Being salty from our pathetic playoff performance due to injuries, I remember being salty as a young nephew back in 05.
I thought the 05 team was better than the 06 team but got unlucky
Based off our history of drafting and also development, it feels like we generally go for guys that can shoot, knowing that we can develop their defence. Shooting is something that’s much harder to develop if you don’t have it by the time you’re a draft prospect.
Examples:
-
Tyler
-
Jovic
-
Jacquez
-
if Winslow didn’t fall it was gonna be Booker
-
Napier
-
Beasley
Then noting key guys with subpar defence they brought in and developed some levels of defence:
-
Max
-
Gabe
-
Duncan
-
tried with Bryant
-
Kelly O
-
Meyers
-
Dragic
I know you can say there’s also Bam and Precious, but overall it feels like they trust their development for defence over developing someone into a shooter.
In saying that, the offensively minded players in our 1st round range in the draft this year would be:
-
Jared McCain
-
Edey
-
Holland
-
Collier
Then I think they could take a defensive minded guard with our 2RP, like Shead.
Interested in what others think in terms of priority. Leaning offence or defence? If so who?
P.s I’d love Carter because he looks like he’d fit our culture and system but his stock has risen so much recently, and given he’s also got a draft promise, it’s likely he doesn’t fall to us.
Giving Heat type of energy in the Finals with that hustle and defense. Getting that steal and And 1 vs Jayson Tatum was so sweet!
