9 team relegation battle. damn.
And nobody adrift yet. Usually we have a side almost locked in by now.
can't even do bottom of the league right smh
We got em all right where we want em
Crazy relegation battle in La liga aswell. Osasuna are 8 th place and just 8 points from relegation.
And 12 points from relegation to a European spot. Mad
In LaLiga as of now 1 point per game isn't enough to not be relegated
That’s nearly half the league team
This guy maths
Cheers Geoff
A red card?
Source?
I was looking at Arsenal's remaining fixtures this season and I swear they're all either in/around the top 4 or a team battling relegation. Wouldn't like to put money on who's going down when all is said and done.
Every team except Villa and Chelsea are seriously gunning for Europe or seriously in danger of relegation.
Chelsea is 3 points off Europe. You seriously think they're out of contention?
Welol we do have a game against Chelsea, basically one of two clubs in man’s land rn
9 teams only at 1 PPG is pretty bad. Seems like the league has a large gap to the top teams right now.
There's no punching bags this season, all of the clubs in the relegation battle are fully capable of taking points off of big teams. Southampton took draws off of United, Arsenal, Leeds took points off of United and Chelsea, Bournemouth beat Liverpool and drew Newcastle, Leicester smashed Spurs, Everton took points off of Arsenal and City, Forest haven't lost at home since the 30 October and taken points from Liverpool, Chelsea and City, Wolves just beat Spurs, Palace has taken points from United, Liverpool, Newcastle.
Virtually all of those games I've mentioned have been since January, the only team not to upset a big team really is West Ham this season.
It’s the mark of a very competitive league. Everybody is capable of taking points off each other
I wouldn’t say Chelsea are quite safe yet
I would say you are an Arsenal fan.
Ahh shit I thought I was in the gunners subreddit - I’m not normally so mouthy in public for obvious historical reasons 😂
You say that, I say we are only 11 points shy of 4th with a game in hand.
No harm in dreaming
This is the tightest relegation battle I can remember. Maybe since West Brom were bottom at Christmas then stayed up on the final day.
I'd fucking love it if there were still 5 or 6 teams in danger on the final day. Would be great if 20th place could finish 16th, 15th place could finish 19th etc.
Basically I'm up for whatever takes the spotlight off Arsenal lifting the title...
The worst PL match I've ever seen was in the 2012-13 season and it was QPR drawing 0-0 with Reading to confirm both clubs' relegation. Both teams played like the drop was a foregone conclusion - basically just sleepwalking for 90 minutes with barely any attempts on goal. I felt so bad for the fans. I love to see when teams are fighting tooth and nail until the final day to stay up.
Reading was in the prem in 2013?! My only memory of Reading was Dave Kitson being subbed on and getting immediately sent off but that seemed much earlier.
They got promoted back for that one season and immediately dropped out again. QPR being utter cack that season despite big transfer spending overshadowed them, but Reading were rubbish too.
For reference, here's the bottom 9's final day fixtures:
Everton v Bournemouth
Leicester v West Ham
Palace v Forest
Leeds v Spurs
Southampton v Liverpool
Arsenal v Wolves
Man those first three. Imagine if any of them ended up being a case whoever wins stays up and loses goes down.
I reckon us and Bournemouth could definitely be that game.
Will you keep Conte?
Might as well stick with him until the end of the season, but it's pretty clear he'll be off in Summer when his contract is up.
Funny thing is 4th for spurs isn’t bad at all in a vacuum, but Liverpool and chelsea having horrific seasons has massively helped
Agree. Though feels like Spurs could’ve (should’ve?) gotten more out of this season considering these two teams current state.
The relegation battle must be great if you're not in it
We are sleepwalking to the bottom and nobody in charge of our club seems to care
Tbf I feel like I've heard fans of at least 4 clubs describe themselves as "sleepwalking toeard relegation" this season
It’s a zombie horde at this point.
To give you a little ray of hope in 2014/15 at this point you were dead bottom with 18 points - you were the team everyone assumed was going down
Leicester weren't safe until the second to last game of the season
The following season must've been crazy for them to not relegate right?
They were so bad that they overflowed to first
like Gandhi on civ
Title Race, Race for Top four, Relegation battle and then you have Chelsea in 10th like 👁️👄👁️.
Us and Villa just hanging out, showing up once a week to make up the numbers
I would cream my jeans for the rest of the season if Everton were listless in 11th.
Only one more win and you can say you reach the magical 40 points and get to stop worrying.
Hey, we still have a chance at a conference league spot. Don't count us out like that
2-horse race for the title; 9-horse race to avoid relegation.
Is it really a race if the horses are dead?
A decompostion race
Rigor Morris MVP
It's like this sub; everyone's desperately trying to beat a dead horse
Everyone else is fighting for European spots, too. Insane season so far.
I don't know, everyone seems to be fighting not to get European spots.
They all know the conference league is the true CL.
Villa just in the middle minding their own business while everyone else is in a dogfight for something.
Nah, they're enjoying a private duel with Chelsea for the top half.
Cries in 11th, fuck these refs fam.
Still in with a chance of the Conference League. Far better than being 12th right now.
With Emery for the whole season, you’d have definitely had a shot for Europe this season
Forest with 26 games played, -26 GD and 26 points, love the consistency
By my maths they've drawn every game 0-1
Your math skills have scared aliens.
ಠ_ಠ
They looked dreadful yesterday against Spurs
Forest away are easily relegation favourites
Forest home are a different breed
Make it make sense. Please.
Forests tend to collapse when you uproot their trees
Naughtyngham Forest
This has been such a shit season for Spurs, the fact that we’re 4th and 2 points behind third is honestly mad.
And only one game going forward every week. I honestly feel u guys could finish 3rd ahead of united. United have lost casemito and have 2 games a week and they are still fa too.
Highly doubt it. We’re still very inconsistent, United will still probably win most of their games.
I dunno Conte tends to better with longer to prep between games.
Not sure about that. Our current midfield pairing is McFred… we saw how that went last year.
Eriksen is out til early May, Van de Beek (useless anyway) is out for the season, Casemiro is missing 4 games and Sabitzer is injured and we have no clue how long for
The pastor will bless us with another masterclass.
Wtf Howitzer is already out?
Shit season? I'm pretty sure Spurs had their best start to a Prem season ever this season?
It's felt like shit the whole way through.
Even when we were winning at the start, the actual football wasn't great.
Results-wise? It's their best.
Performance-wise? Honestly pathetic.
Results wise it's nowhere close to our best? We had a great opening 2 months. That's it.
+6 GD as the third place is crazy
We win games by a goal, but the ones we lose, we have lost baaaadly.
Laughs in Liverpool.
Few odd/funny bits around the table. Tottenham have lost as many games as Chelsea. Newcastle are joint top for least defeats. West Ham have a pretty decent defensive record for where they are.
Funny thing that stood out to me:
Leicester City (16th) have scored 10 more goals than Chelsea (10th) lol
Also West Ham (17th) have conceded fewer goals than Manchester United (3rd)
this isn't odd to me. least goals conceded in the league. Theyre defensively amazing with Howe's setup + Pope, Trippier, Botman, Schar, Burn.
once they can turn their draws into wins.. they'll be a real threat in the league
I’d say our defence is more than just our back 4(though they are amazing) Almiron, Joelinton and Wilson pressing from the front is when it starts and there have only been about 3 performances this year that I felt we sat back.(away against you as league leaders is obviously one of them, but that’s not how we usually play)
Every single game at this point has some sort of relegation race implications lol.
Even City-Arsenal?
With the looming charges over city, they are also in a relegation battle as well.
Subscribe.
The FA docks them 60 points and they somehow stay up anyway.
The relegation fight is going to be spicy this year
It's been so much worse this year than last. Everyone knew Watford and Norwich were dead. All 3 spots are still very open and people are getting results every week.
15th feels so weirdly safe, even though we’re only 3 points clear of 20th and every team below has a game in hand.
We’ve also got a dreadful run of fixtures coming up. Good chance we don’t get a point in the next 4 games.
In Dyche we trust
A 1-0 (Tarkowski 90+1) has to be in there somewhere
12th doesn't feel safe at all, so I'll have whatever you are smoking
To be fair, we have been in the relegation zone for roughly two years now. 15th is a huge improvement.
That's cuz we are all shit
Is it possible for Brighton to finish top 5?
They could finish 4th if the stars aligned. Its unlikely to happen but they could go above Spurs with their games in hand.
PSG front 3 during kick off

Relegation scrap looking like it’s gonna give a proper last match day like in 04/05
2010-11 had 5 teams all at risk of the drop
Relegation scrap is so tasty this year but my heart can't take it
Don’t see you going down. Going 2-0 up to the best team in the league even with a loss then beating a very in form Liverpool 1-0. You’ll probably be better than at least 3 sides with that form.
All up for grabs in title, relegation and Europe.
Great season so far.
Olise my guy why'd you do that
A draw there would have been huge. Such a bonehead play.
Because it's destined we cannot consistently hang on to a lead or a draw (if that's what we're playing for). The result yesterday was so painfully obvious to foresee.

Bad weekend all around but it's still there for us, mad.
What a lot of people don't realize is that Arsenal almost have the same GD as City. I would have never thought.
They both have the same amount of goals conceded, City have scored only 5 more goals than Arsenal.
Arsenal have a collective of goal contributors whereas City have majority of their goals coming from Haaland.
A lot of those came from his hot start where he scored 3 and 4 for fun every game.
I never expected Arsenal to hold out this long. I thought they'd be one of those teams that start off well and burn out. Even when it became clear that they weren't falling off and would push for the title, I still expected them to capitulate in that typical Arsenal fashion, but they simply have not. Their mentality has improved so much, and they just have this ability to pull points from where they had no business getting them. There are still 11 games to go, but I seriously expect them to win the league, and I hope they do.
I think missing out on top 4 last season has helped massively when it comes to the mentality of taking nothing for granted and 'every point matters'. We've become so much more ruthless and those late winners just makes everyone believe that bit more.
And now we've got Jesus back too. The stars really do seem to be aligning
This is exactly what it is. I saw an interview with Ramsdale saying it hurt the whole team a lot to miss out on top 4 and that too to our rivals. That might have been the perfect catalyst for improving the teams mentality. It also helps that we now have proven winners in our squad as well.
After palace and leeds our run in is horrendously difficult. Liverpool, city, Chelsea, Newcastle. If we're still top by then we have a great chance.
Even a draw at the Etihad would be huge for Arsenal but they realistically need to take at least 6-7 points from those other three games to stay ahead. Can't remember the last time they won at Anfield.
Honestly more confident of getting points off city at the etihad than liverpool at Anfield even though records against both are abysmal.
How do you think City compares in their final run?
Easier imo. Two tough games in Brighton and Brentford away. Liverpool at home really depends on whether last weeks Liverpool or this weeks Liverpool turns up. But the rest they should win fairly comfortably aside from us (hopefully)
I would personally like to invite last week’s Liverpool to City.
City also have to play arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.
all at home though
Which side in the bottom half have gotten the most out of their January signings (the amount of time played + the impact of the players)?
Everton signing Dyche
Yeah losing to us in El Sackico was the best thing they did all season
Bournemouth may have a shout with Ouattara?
Certainly, I've seen some that are impressed with his performances.
Wober for Leeds has been so massive he’s played like every minute he was fit for after signing in Jan
Comment deleted by user
Ha, we're not quite bottom half. But he and Enzo have certainly made an impact right from the off since joining us.
I was more talking about the whole group of January signings, and apart from those two, the rest of ours have not shown much yet.
Looking good. Form side going into the last 11. I'm just going to pretend the games at Anfield and the Etihad aren't going to happen. 😎
Let's just pretend none of the last 11 are happening and end it here?
Thank you very much.
Thank you very much.
We need another pandemic to end the season early.
Don't manifest this
Just give us the premier league already. I don't need to have a heart attack at the end of the season 😂
stop the count!!
Also don't
forgetremember the game at Newcastle😠
Maybe after we inevitably lose to Brentford next, and then labour against Crystal Palace we might finally be rid of Rodgers?
Who am I kidding, everything we've been told apparently is that no-one at the top is apparently at all concerned about our plight - according to Jason Bourne our owners don't recognise the severity of our position.
Can't wait for 6 losses in a row, roll on Brentford!
Tottenham only 2 points behind United is mad.
Feeling around Spurs is that they're in a crisis while United's been touted as one of the best sides in Europe this season. Conte in?
I know it's a lazy explanation, but we really have been quite lucky with some results. Also, Man U's improvement has been evident to see in terms of performance, if anything we have significantly regressed since the end of last season
Probably because of how we bombed out of every cup in like a week
We’ve dropped too many points in our last 10 league games but our cup performances have kind of distracted people from that. Meanwhile Spurs have crashed out of every cup in that time and have picked up more points than us in the last 10 league games.
Manager attitude playin a big part too.
Ten Hag advocating optimism. Conte begging to be sacked. Fanbases reacting accordingly.
United also is doing great in every cup they are while playing every 3.5 days since the World Cup
Amd they did win one already of course
We’ve been pretty awful most times when it counts. Champions league we were so lucky to get out of our group. Which was the easiest group. Got demolished by an average Milan.
Destroyed twice by Arsenal. Lost both cups with a whimper. Our best games happened when Conte was home recovering from surgery.
Our tactics are stale and most players look regressed.
Plus if you read what he’s been saying recently about the club and the fans lol.
It’s clear he’s not staying and win win for everyone.
I think we’re 4th more so because Chelsea and Liverpool have been shocking, not that we’ve been good.
United are still in both cup competitions and play football that is entertaining to watch. They also just won the League Cup.
Spurs play atrocious football and got knocked out of CL and FA Cups in two games they were expected to win.
Spurs are only in a crisis because of where Arsenal is.
Exactly. We’re not far off from last year, but last year Arsenal wasn’t top.
Makes everything feel worse.
United have a game in hand TBF
One draw and we seriously sweating
Points on the board >
Especially now that Casemiro is banned for like 4 matches.
Spurs had a pretty good start IIRC. Maybe around 3 points behind Arsenal at the 10 game mark. So they have got around 26 points in 17 games since. That's pretty poor for a side that was thought be 3rd favourites at the start of the season.
Yeah, I believe it was their best premier league start in their history at the 10 game point.
and Newcastle only 4 points behind Tottenham and with 2 games in hand.
Those 3 points vs Brentford are so vital, especially because we have Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United in our next 3 matches
Dyche masterclass incoming.
Aston Vi11a
It's impressive that despite being so shit all season, we're 4th.
I like that form bar.
We just need one fucking win, ONE fucking win and my sphincter will unclench
The fact that 9 teams are in a relegation battle also means that there are no easy games, as everyone will be fighting tooth and nail to survive/get top 4.
This is a great year for the Prem, almost every race is close and will likely be drawn out to the final match-day. The title (Arsenal, Man City), top 4 (United, Spurs, Newcastle, Liverpool), European football (from Brighton to Aston Villa), relegation (from Palace to Southampton).
Every team is involved in some kind of battle, it's great to see.
Brighton 3pts behind Liverpool 2 games in hand, bump them up. And just like that Fulham to Villa is mid table.
Urghh, the var fuck up against Brentford is really gunna be what separates us end of season I can see it. Imagine that was reffed well and olise wasn’t rash. We would have a 9 point gap. Such fine margins separating us
Arsenal being all green is so aesthetically pleasing to me. Especially considering the game before those 5 were the City game.
How are spurs only 2 pts back of 3rd????????
UTD title race things
I know United has a game in hand but when you are 16 points behind first place you are not in a title fight.
But they are carabao cup winners
United really need to rotate. They're playing so much, a good chance of squandering top 4 as well as the cups at the end.
Don't have the squad to rotate. Casemiro is now out for 4 games. We're doing relatively well given the no. of games. Things have unraveled post the Liverpool game but we were clear of the chasing pack before that game and I think we'll build up a lead again.
How? Eriksen's injured Sabitzer's injured Martial's injured Van der beek's injured. It's a miracle that bruno's superhuman cause we would be in deep shit without him.
Feel like Villa and Wolves are in a nice run of form. They’ve accumulated more points than United, Brighton, Fulham, and Brentford since match day 20.
Bournemouth fan here - the bottom 9 team fight to survive relegation is ridiculous.
Just looking at the table gives me so much anxiety thinking about 11 more matchdays
Three horse race title lmao
I've had utd fans telling me we will finish 3rd in a two horse race haha
Because that’s what their deluded pundit Gary Cunt Neville been preaching
Have we ever gotten so far into a season without having a clue what the final table could look like? Honestly couldnt confidently call a single position in that table right now staying the same by GW38.
Feel like we're going to see some shock relegations too. Everyone looks even in the relegation scrap, even Bournemouth look decent now.
Relegation battle legit more interesting than the battle for top 4. Half the fucking league is in danger of going down. Crazy how strong the competition has been this season.
I think I quite like this table.
Positive goal difference, you'll never sing that
I don’t even watch the EPL much, but I’m so excited for the relegation battle this year. Always seems more exciting than the title race imo.
It’ll be interesting in Spain too, though only two spots are really up for grabs (sorry Elche) and some huge teams are involved
Chelsea can be losing matches or winning matches, they keep the same position every week
Arsenal still haven't played any good teams yet
