https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candiru
Only one documented case and it's considered highly suspicious.
I read about it in a William Burroughs book. I hope you’re not accusing William Burroughs of just making stuff up for shock value.
Still, why risk it?
But it was on Grey’s Anatomy. It hasn’t to be true.
Debunked
After 11 years, I'm out.
Join me over on the Fediverse to escape this central authority nightmare.
...as if there aren’t going to be fuckloads of animals pissing, shitting, and/or dying in the Amazon anyway
Gonna cry? Gonna piss your Amazon river?
Good thing yeah, now we can safely drink all the Amazon water without fear of piss
THE DREADED CANDIRU
That is a total myth, there is no such fish!
haha I know, it’s just a quote from a TV show
I know, I was continuing the quote :p (Jumping ahead with Doc's line, but you get the idea)
Oh my bad, I’m stupid haha. Go team venture ✌🏻
✌
A naughty little fish
GIVE US the... cuttlefish.
I thought they were an urban legend?
‘When subsequently interviewed, Spotte stated that even if a person were to urinate while "submerged in a stream where candiru live", the odds of that person being attacked by candiru are "(a)bout the same as being struck by lightning while simultaneously being eaten by a shark."’

No problem just burst pee
Easy... don't create a straight stream with your pee.
Pee in randomly directed disconnected streams.
Good, i do that already...
Just spin it around in circles gigolo style while peeing.
(cancels trip to the Amazon)
Yeah that's bullshit. 1 recorded case, and also theres literally no reason for the fish to do that. It would just die
The swimming up the pee stream myth isnt true. Unfortunate swimmers is more plausible. Ive heard first hand accounts of it happening from certain naturalists. Best to just never swim in tropical rivers
what if I want it inside me
If you read the small text at the bottom it's likely this sign comes from the Cincinnati Zoo, not the Amazon Basin. And it's inaccurate.
I remember the first time I heard about the "penis fish". That knowledge scarred me for life.
I believe there was a River Monsters episode about a fish that enjoyed mauling the groin region, also in the Amazon.
You’d enjoy hearing it’s 100% bs then
I went to wikipedia to prove you wrong, and found this
So, thank you for that. I can rest easy now, should I ever visit the Amazon. :-)
IF this were a thing, just pee in a high arc so there isn’t a steady stream
Why do people even believe this? I mean it swimming up your pee stream? Really?
