QOTD: it used to be with socks on; but then I realized if my feet were cold with the socks on, that they warmed up if I had them under a blanket without socks. Now it’s generally no socks for bed.
Came home at a decent hour and already cooked and ate a quick (although not quite healthy) dinner. I fixed up a burger with Colby jack cheese and then baked up some cheap loaded potato stick appetizers.
Got my credit card bill today & ouch! I need to cut back on my spending. time to try to eat home more and bring more food to work. Maybe I can attempt to eat healthier too.
QotD: OFF!!!! Even times when I fall asleep with them on I'll wake up at some point and pull them off. I overheat otherwise.

I feel like I'm drowning in work, my course load is so heavy this semester. I'm in physical geology plus the geo lab, cultural and linguistic anthropology, world literature, honors colloquium and forum, plus being involved in the flute studio. I'm really trying to keep my head up though, and not fall back into depression
this might be a Canadian complaint but god... No Name soda crackers are terrible compared to Premium. They're like little wafers of plastic

I'm mostly packed for my flight tomorrow... I'm pretty sure my checked bag is under 50lbs... I hope... I'm having taquitos for lunch. Kind of tacos... The dog is mad at me, because I'm packing, but she will pretend to be ok as long as I have food.... I'm anxious about flying, and can't have alcohol on the flight because new meds. 😣 I have a few projects, and a book. Hopefully I can keep myself preoccupied.

Help my lovely people!!! I am in 71° weather, well ok it is outside but I’m inside. Bummer! I’m on base again. Wanna learn a lesson on what not to do when you’re a soldier with a dodge charger? Don’t park it infront of my mom’s building in a handicap spot with the hazards on with no handicap sticker because you’re not handicapped!!!! 👿 Gah people annoy me! Anyway how are y’all doing? I miss my puppers today. I kept reaching over yesterday thinking they would be next to me on the couch. My husband says it’s because I’ve been gone too long lol. 🤷♀️

We got the call that kiddo was accepted into Head Start yesterday, and then got a call back this morning stating they made a mistake. She's still on the waiting list. We're really fed up with how they've treated us and are looking at alternate options now. There's a local ice hockey and dance program that she might be able to get into, so I think we'll be exploring those options over the weekend.
It's not been a great week, but it has been better than last week. I'll take it. Not like I've got much of a choice in the matter, anyway!

Hello lovelies! Today I went to the grocery store and got stuff to make a pineapple upside-down cake, using the gluten-free cake mix that u/kyriya got for me! I'm so excited. I love pineapple. I also got a "manager's special" (i.e. 50% off) fruit salad, so I'm eating some pineapple right now, too.

Is more snow a good thing or a bad thing? I hate snow, but I know some people love it.
It’s a love/ hate relationship lol. I’m not a fan of the cold or having to go somewhere in it but it is pretty and the kids love it!
Well, tomorrow is the boys actual birthday. I can’t believe I have a pair of teenage boys.
Yesterday my ex drove my daughter and her boyfriend back to the airport so they could catch their flight home to South Carolina. It’s hard having her across the country, but it was a great visit.
I had a very intense physical therapy session with my new therapist, and that was great, except I was so worn out afterward, that I pretty much crashed the rest of the afternoon until dinner, and then fell asleep early again after that. I guess the muscles need rest.
My mother is attending a parent teacher conference with one of the boys after school today, but other than that, no plans for today.
Tomorrow we’re taking the boys to the bowling alley with a few of their friends. They should have a good time with their dad.

Yes, it can be uncomfortable, and it is somewhat painful, depending on how far or how much I stretch the muscles, but they do a good job of not overextending me. I just feel really wiped out after work.

Things have been hard this week. Fighting a stomach virus in my preK room and now it’s got me too. Don’t know how I’ll afford the two days I had to miss beats I couldn’t stop getting sick. But it can only get better, right? There’s always tomorrow ❤️

I tend to get down sometimes when I feel left out of IRL friendships. After my good friend moved away last week, I’ve been wondering who I could ask to hang out with from the university. Graduate school can be incredibly isolating when working in a small lab. But, after seminar today, I had two friends check in with me. They are both planning to graduate this year, but we have all been through the ups-and-downs of the PhD process and have leaned on each other when need be. We’re currently all doing well emotionally. Probably better than any other time we’ve talked. They both hugged me goodbye which is a sign to me that things are positive for us. Reminds me that even though I sometimes may feel like it, I’m not actually alone.
In other news, I’ve got some chest discomfort right now and have been dealing with really sore muscles the past couple of days. I’ve also felt really inflamed in my joints which is unusual for me. Not sure if I’m sick or what’s going on!
QOTD: I don’t typically, but I may start. For some reason I don’t like my ankles touching lately!
It's wonderful to hear that you have a support system, even in places where you least expect one! Please know that we care about you here, too. I totally understand how isolating higher education can be.

Had a horrible nightmare last night that I put my dogs in the microwave. I woke up and sobbed for a solid half hour afterwards because it felt so real, and I couldn’t get back to sleep. That does it… my brain is officially grounded and not allowed to sit around and tell stories at night anymore.

Life has been rough lately, but I'm getting through it. The worst of it has been having to let my doggo cross the rainbow bridge. She was the bestest, and she loved to cuddle at my feet (which, always freaked me out because she's a small dog). I want to do a "pay it forward" contest one of these days when I'm able to because I had a groomer give my girl one last groom before she left this world (it might sound silly, but I wanted her to look her best). The groomer was wonderful and took great care of her and then didn't even charge me. I left her a decent tip, but I want to pay that generosity forward soon. ^_^
QotD: Usually with them off, but on REALLY cold nights, I will sleep with them on.

What a thoughtful and kind groomer. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your pup, though.
Our Latke kitty passed away right before Christmas of '22. We also had him groomed before putting him down, because he'd stopped cleaning himself. We keep a little shrine with his ashes and a portrait of him in our room. It really helps on those rough days.
I'm hoping to do something similar with Leia's ashes when we finally get them. The vet never called to let us know she was ready, so now I have to wait until I am able to get out there (it's a good half hour drive, and they're only open until 5pm -_-).
I'm so sorry to hear about your pup. It is hard losing a pet.

I put my dog down in August and I miss her. But man it was best for her. I have to keep telling myself that. Im sure you did everything you could.
I am so sorry for your loss. But I know what you mean...I kept thinking to myself "she's been more active in the last two days, maybe she's doing better". But she was 14, blind in one eye and partially in the other, mostly deaf, and had what is basically dog dementia :( We did the best we could for her, but she had started hiding, and going to the bathroom in the house multiple times a day...I know it was her time, I just wasn't ready for it.
We are never ready for it. My girl was only 5 years old. But she had a very painful joint condition and it just wasn’t fair to keep her in pain. She was so sad. It hurts thinking about her. But sometimes you have to do it for them.
Yes, sometimes doing the hardest thing is the best thing for them. It's not fair to let them live in pain just to keep them around longer...you did everything you could for her. <3

Ah, my condolences.... :( I DREAD the day I have to let my doggie Lovebug go.... letting my cat (my last pet) go after 15 years was the worst day of my life, so horrible, I cried buckets and my MDD was AWFUL for weeks. Praying you are hanging in there and I TOTALLY get the last grooming and I pray for comfort from the memories and I pray for you to feel loved and surrounded by people here and IRL. <3
Thank you. Letting your pets go is so hard. I don't care if you've had the pet 15 days or 15 years...losing a pet is such a difficult thing to do. I'm trying to get through the days. We've had enough shit going on that I have been distracted mostly, but whenever I'm home I find myself looking for her all the time, or watching where I step when I stand up from the couch (because she'd ALWAYS cuddle at my feet, or right underneath where I'd be sitting). But I do have my people. My husband has been wonderful. He knows how much that little doggo meant to me (I'd had her since she was two months old).
I am soooo tired but I have a hair appointment in 40 minutes so I can't take a nap. I am dreading going to work tomorrow :(

Well, today is a rough day. My mom picks up my female dog (the one that is 100% mine) in about 3 hours and will keep her until we can find another home.
I am devastated, but she’s gotten far too aggressive with my other dog. It’s no longer manageable, especially with baby expected in under a month. Instead of close calls every couple of months we now have multiple close calls in a day. Just reminding myself that today is not the last time I’ll see her, it’s just the last day of naps and snuggles and of her truly being mine. I’ll miss my shadow.

Interview got bumped to Thursday, which sucks but is still totally fine. Gonna buckle down this weekend and get more applications floating around. I had my yearly review yesterday (97% good, 3% meh) and had me reconsidering switching jobs. Unfortunately, this morning has firmly cemented my need to get out of my current position.

No Valentines plans. I'm in another state from my bestie who I spent the last 3-4 Valentines Days with because her husband travels for work. Now he's working more local.. And I'm a million miles away so it'll be a doggie Valentines Day for me. Just me and my pup and a big glass of wine.

Good morning! What a day! Woke up nice and early at 6am and spent some time with the boyfriend. After he left I had to bring son to school— but couldn’t find my keys. Looked for a half hour before boyfriend called to say oops he has them (he got something out of my car earlier). Luckily my mom came and brought him to school!!! Now I’ve been in a meeting for over an hour—. Going over all of my inventory so they can tell me what I shouldn’t have open. Guess what. Nothing so far. But it’s ok, im not taking calls. Supposed to have clogging tonight but I don’t have my keys to get there.

Morning everyone!
I had the follow up with my specialty surgeon yesterday. We got the results to my MRI… my tumor has shrunk a significant amount!!! Have to do a few more small procedures to see exactly how well the tumor reacted and to see if there is anymore inflammation from the Crohn’s. Then we can figure out a plan for surgery. But overall, good news!!!

Morning y'all! I'm just hanging out, and getting my infusion today. After this, gotta take little man to get labwork done. Ever since th bad seizure this weekend, he has been so loopy. Poor thing keeps running into walls, and tripping over his own feet. I know one of his med levels is too high, so that's my day in a nutshell. I sure hope everyone is having a good week this fat. I also hope the rest of your week goes by smooth as a baby's butt. 🤣

QOTD: I live in CA but even when I lived in cold WA I NEVER slept w socks on... makes my feet too hot and I would wake up (when I tried it) and peel them off in the middle of the night and I don't need help w waking up, I do that enough middle of the night as it is!
Sooooo, BOOO: for those who are wondering today's Migraine Watch: I have a small one and it's REALLY REALLY REALLY trying to become a bigger one. sigh. I'm taking my prescription med to STOP IT PLEASE... <gulp> OK there that's done... I should not be online but I have STUFF TO DO because tonight we meet a potential new-to-us Dog-walker/Dog-caretaker, which we NEED if we're going out of town for our Anniversary in February! WE NEED the time away, the last year has SUCKED! I lost THREE people I loved just in the last 4 months, one of whom was Boyfriend's Dad and he's CLOSE To his parents and... well, it's... sad. :( His family needs prayers for so many reasons.
ANYways, we want to go for President's Day weekend even though that doesn't include our Anniversary date, so 2 nights away, and although Lovebug doggie doesn't need and would actually prefer to NOT have a stranger STAY here, she DOES need at least 2 meaningful (30 min) walks a day, morning and evening... trying to decide if it should be 3.... sigh. So tonight is the meet-and-greet with my frontrunner-choice for dogwalkers and I'M nervous because sometimes Lovebug behaves and sometimes she's a toddler. She loves people, but we're meeting at the park a few blocks away for several reasons and if there's a lot of dogs there, Lovebug will be trying her hardest to get away and we may have to get a bit off-scene. Not sure. PLEASE pray it goes well and that it's a mutual love between the Dogwalker and Lovebug? I need a walker sometimes, going forward, and it would be AWESOME to establish a relationship with one I can count on! :)
