Reddit Mock Draft - Pick 11 - Chicago Bulls Reddit Mock Draft - Pick 11 - Chicago Bulls
NBA Draft

Hey, Bulls fans! I'm conducting a mock draft where each NBA team subreddit makes the selection for their team based on who is still is available from the previous subreddits' choices. You guys have the 11th pick, so the Hawks, Wizards, Rockets, Spurs, Pistons, Hornets, Blazers, Spurs again, Grizzlies, and Jazz have already picked. Those selections went like this:

1 - Atlanta Hawks - Alexandre Sarr

2 - Washington Wizards - Zaccharie Risacher

3 - Houston Rockets - Reed Sheppard

4 - San Antonio Spurs - Stephon Castle

5 - Detroit Pistons - Dalton Knecht

6 - Charlotte Hornets - Donovan Clingan

7 - Portland Trail Blazers - Matas Buzelis

8 - San Antonio Spurs - Rob Dillingham

9 - Memphis Grizzlies - Nikola Topic

10 - Utah Jazz - Ron Holland

11 - Chicago Bulls - ???

As such, all of the players listed above are unavailable. Trading the pick is also not allowed for this mock. With that being said, please comment who you think/want the Bulls to take and upvote any that you agree with. The top comment by tomorrow morning will be the selection.

Some possible selections include Tidjane Salaun, Cody Williams, Isaiah Collier, Jared McCain, Devin Carter, Ja'Kobe Walter, Kel'el Ware, and Zach Edey.

Thanks!

[Charania] The Chicago Bulls plan to hire Billy Donovan III – son of Billy Donovan – as head coach of their NBA G League Windy City Bulls team, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Donovan III served as an assistant coach for San Antonio’s Austin Spurs affiliate in 2017.

It’s widely assumed that DeRozan, set to become an unrestricted free agent, will re-sign with the Bulls this summer. DeRozan has gushed about his time in Chicago and since the trade deadline in February has reiterated his desire to remain with the Bulls.

But the sticking point between the two sides has long been the parameters of a deal, both the amount of money and the length of the contract.

The Bulls would be happy to re-sign DeRozan on a two-year deal. DeRozan’s side obviously would covet more security. The Bulls have a habit of liberally latching player options into contracts so that carrot could come into play with DeRozan’s deal as well. The dollar amount will be hefty, likely north of $40 million annually, but is less significant to the Bulls’ long-term flexibility. Chicago wants to keep DeRozan but at a reasonable commitment. DeRozan turns 35 this summer and will be in his 15th season in 2024-25.

If DeMar is re-signed to this amount, I am very curious to see what happens with pending RFA Patrick Williams if LaVine isn't traded to a team with cap space, which the article also touches on:

A league source said the Bulls offered Williams a contract north of $16 million annually when the two sides were negotiating last fall.

That will now be the number to beat for Williams, who is set to become a restricted free agent this summer. But because a season-ending foot injury in January limited Williams to 43 games, he didn’t get the chance to prove his value to be higher.

How much the Bulls value Williams will now be fascinating to watch play out. He was Karnišovas’ first draft selection, picking him fourth in 2020. The front office and coaching staff have supported, and at times defended, Williams through everything from ineffective play to injuries.

Soon comes the moment of truth.

With the news of Nikola Topić’s injury, how do we feel about taking him at 11 if he falls? With the news of Nikola Topić’s injury, how do we feel about taking him at 11 if he falls?
NBA Draft

Word just came out today that Nikola Topić had a partially torn ACL and so will probably miss all or most of his rookie season. If his draft stock takes a hit due to this and he’s there at 11, do we take him? If he heals well he could end up as the best player from this class, and a year without our first round pick could possibly make it easier to tank for Flagg next year assuming we go back into a partial rebuild. What do you all think?

Let's Say The Bulls "Run It Back" Let's Say The Bulls "Run It Back"
Fluff

What exactly is the issue?

In this exercise, considering salary cap restrictions, I have to consider LaVine get's traded for scraps. Let's go one player at a time:

Lonzo - Very heavy chances are he's not going to come back at full strength. But at the worst, he's still a valuable asset, and not a detriment like other players on this roster. And if he could add at least 1 valuable minute per game this year, then that's better than last year.

Coby - Will be better this year

Ayo - Will be better this year

Caruso - Will be better this year

PWill - Will be better this year. He gained a lot of muscle since college. Players like that, need a bit of time to adjust to their new body. You can tell his finesse was off but that's only going to get better over time.

DeMar - Stays the same and continues to be a leader and role model for this team.

Green - Will at least stay the same or be better this year

Vuc - Is a problem. It was pretty clear this year that his work ethic dropped and just provided low effort. But, if he can at least get his 3pt shooting above trash can levels, then he'll be better this year.

Drummond - Was awesome this past year. If he can maintain that, then great. As much as I love Drummond, I still gotta say this could be a toss up on how he does this coming year.

To be conservative, let's say the rest of the roster stays the same, although I really hope they just straight up cut Carter or trade him for scraps. He's the ball-hog we absolutely don't need if he ain't hitting shots. The young talent is all on an upward trend leaving a lot of potential for the future as well.

With all this considered, what am I missing? The goal is to get better every year, and this team is on that track. It's not an excuse to say that having a minimum of $65M in salary being injured for years messes up any plans, chemistry, roster construction, etc. That's a real problem that other teams aren't facing.

Ideally, I'd love to see them turn LaVine, Vuc, and Carter into a 5 and a 4 somehow, but we'll see.

Overall, this is a net gain from last year. I'm all ears.

League sources say that Devin Carter has received a promise somewhere in the lottery. Could that team be the Bulls? Carter would be a great fit next to Coby White as a lockdown defender who can thrive with or without the ball on offense. Plus, DeMar DeRozan could leave in free agency, where he would fit with the Clippers if Paul George were to sign elsewhere, so there’d be an immediate minutes void that Carter could fill.

Did KOC just spoil a part of nba offseason this year?
